SOMERSET, Ky. (WYMT) – The Continental Redefining Company (CRC) held a groundbreaking ceremony on Tuesday for a new facility in Somerset.
Several company officials gathered to celebrate the new soybean crushing, biodiesel refining and blending facility. The new facility will be part of the current CRC oil refinery in Somerset.
”Credit goes to everybody that’s been involved in this project, very complicated, very large, but we look forward to the future and we appreciate everybody’s support,” Demetrios Haseotes, Hemisphere Limited CEO said. Haseotes purchased the refinery in 2011.
CRC will create up to 20 new jobs with an average salary range of $18-20 per hour.
”We’re thankful for the vision that you had to revitalize and bring this back to life and diversify bringing additional opportunities to our community, to the people of Pulaski County to the people of surrounding Lake Cumberland Region,” Shane Baker, State Representative, District 85, said to Haseotes.
“The ability to produce biofuels and soy-based products in Somerset will open new markets while providing farmers, CRC’s customers, vendors, investors and the community a solid AgriTech business opportunity that provides a positive economic impact for the entire region,” said officials in a news release.
